Plants from the Rock Garden

Last year we overwintered this delicate purple Nierembergia indoors. It looked a bit weak when we set it out this spring, but it seems to be thriving between the rocks under the Lady's Mantle.

Yellow Lamium is a great addition to the rock garden.

Pink Pussytoes (Antennaria rosea) is a perfect plant for the rock garden. It's a great ground cover and the bloom, although not a typical flower blossom, is interesting. They do actually look like pussy toes.

Here is a really interesting plant. It is a variety of Hens and Chicks (Sempervivum), a common rock garden plant. The blossoms (we've never seen them in bloom) are quite marvelous. Click on the photo to see the enlargement and check out the antenna-like parts of this flower. Don't forget to click the back button to come back to this page.
