Backyard Overhead View

Since the gardens are now at their peak, here's an overhead view of the back yard - taken from the roof of the house this morning.

And, just to give you a sense of what it looked like three short years ago, here's a 'before' photo:

A couple of other 'before' and 'after' photos

This photo was taken August 14, 2004 from the old deck at the back door looking into the back yard 'bush'. We had planted a burr oak, seen in front of the swing. The back fence can hardly be seen through the trees.

Here's almost the same view five years later.

Wonderful. How did you get the shot? There must be a tale to tell!

There is, indeed, a tale to tell. Before the backyard development and the construction of the addition/deck, etc., a ladder was needed to get up on the roof for the 'before' photo.

However, after construction, it's a simple hop from the deck to the roof over the backdoor stairwell, then another hop onto the carport roof, and finally an easy climb onto the house roof.

If I don't include the edge of the roof in the bottom of the photo, it looks like we rented a helicopter for the photos. Pretty cool!!
