Here we are at the 'Northern Nite' dinner. This is a reunion of RCMP Veterans who, at some time in their service, were posted to Canada's northern Territories. Those attending the dinner were encouraged to embrace the 'northern' theme by wearing Klondike period costumes. Susan is in her Klondike dress, and I have my RCMP Vets red blazer, bow tie and President's medallion.

At the reception the previous evening, we spent time with our new friends, Don and Katy Lou McLauchlan of Calgary. Don was born in Whitehorse 97 years ago. His father joined the North West Mounted Police in 1898 and served with Supt. Sam Steele at Dawson City during the Klondike Gold Rush. Don joined the RCMP in 1935 and served many years in the North. He and Katy Lou were married in 1946 and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year.
