We bought an amaryllis bulb in early November, expecting it to be in bloom by Christmas. However, it seemed to take much longer to break dormancy and do its thing. It just burst into bloom within the last week. We think it was worth the wait.
The nice white background is because it is sitting in a window sill and through the window there is a big snowbank from shovelling off the deck.

Wow! What a flower, what a photo. I can just see it on the ledge by the couch. Does it smell nice? Sawyer would say 'Ka-co, Mmmm'.
Thanks for the comment, Christine. Unfortunately, it doesn't have much of a scent, but its beautiful form makes up for it. And I think Sawyer would agree.
