Garden Unveiling

The morning light was so beautiful in the garden this morning that I decided to take some photos from the house roof, and a few from ground level. The garden certainly hasn't 'peaked' yet, and some of the annuals are still waiting to bloom. But, things are sufficiently advanced to present the last two seasons' work.

Here's the overview from the roof:

Once the house extension is completed, we can tie the garden to the deck area and the gate from the carport - out of the picture, bottom left.

Here's another photo taken from in front of the arbour:

Clicking on the photo will give a better view, but virginia creeper is making its way up each side of the arbour. Also planted on each side are the highbush cranberries - intended to cover the lower portion where virginia creeper tends to go bare over time. The rose bed is to the right. Most of the roses are from the Explorer and Parkland series of hardy Canadian roses. Check out this link:

From the Explorer series we have Alexander MacKenzie, Champlain, and Cuthbert Grant. From the Parkland series we have Prairie Joy, Winnipeg Parks, and Morden Sunrise.

There are over 300 pansies in the pansy bed:

The pattern of the pansies is beginning to emerge - curved ribbons of alternating yellow and blue.

Here's the view when you walk into the garden from the gate:

To the front left is the 'herb bed'. The varieties of herbs are separated by dwarf marigolds - yet to bloom.
