On the evening of September 30th we enjoyed a vivid display of the aurora borealis. The faint glow on the horizon far left is from downtown Whitehorse This photo was taken from the Grey Mountain road in Riverdale.
The following day I was discarding some images from my photoshoot of the aurora, ones where I wasn't completely happy with the intensity of the display. And then I happened to notice a pattern to the stars in the sky. Smack in the middle of the frame was the Big Dipper. Slightly enhancing the brightness and contrast pulled the stars out a bit more. Glad I didn't throw it out. It pays to take a second look sometimes.
