Flower Fotos

While 'southern' Canada has been experiencing a terrible summer, the opposite is true here. So far this summer Whitehorse has been blessed with one of the best, ever!

Today, for example, it has been 26 C. and sunny. Conditions have been perfect for the garden. And the flowers are showing it! Here are some samples:

The Dominion Seed catalogue advertised this variety of Sweet Pea (Lathyrus 'Sugar & Spice') as an alternative for hanging baskets. We love them. And the scent is heavenly!

These pansies 'Ultima Morpho' are named after the rare and beautiful morpho butterfly that has these colours.

The dwarf iris in the rock garden started blooming last week.

These marigolds (Disco 'Grenada') are at their best.

This ornamental cabbage (Osaka red) is just huge, and looks great wedged between the yellow 'Lulu' marigolds.

This pink poppy bloomed today. It stands amidst the red Flanders poppies.

And how about this Chinese Globe Flower (Trollius chinensis). It's a beauty!

And finally, this rose 'Topaz Jewel' is just gorgeous! It bloomed today, after being planted in the rose garden earlier this summer. It's the only yellow Rugosa rose, and is delighfully fragrant.
