To prepare for this, the existing deck (lower and upper decks) must be removed so the ground work can be done to install the foundation system. The addition will come straight off the back of the house where the upper deck now stands, and extend out about 18 feet.
The first step is to remove the deck boards from the lower deck.
It's hard work, so we're taking a break once some of the boards are pulled up.
Then before we could finish, rain interrupted our demolition project. Just as well, too, because we were pretty baffed by this time.
